Onecom signs IoT agreement with Vodafone

Onecom has announced that it has signed a five-year deal with Vodafone to develop, launch and manage “Internet of Things” (IoT) services for UK businesses.

The Internet of Things (IoT) connects machines, devices and objects, turning them into ‘intelligent’ assets, helping companies create more efficient processes and new revenue streams. Onecom will be able to deploy Vodafone’s market-leading global IoT managed connectivity, platform and services, enabling more businesses to take advantage of IoT solutions within their organisations.

The company will also look to develop its own IoT services, underpinned by Vodafone’s IoT connectivity and global platform, which allows for central visibility and control of connected devices anywhere within Vodafone’s global footprint.

Vodafone is the global leader in managed IoT, connecting 59.1 million IoT SIMs worldwide. Vodafone’s IoT connectivity, services and expertise are already helping businesses globally to improve the customer experience, realise efficiency savings and find new ways of doing things. This latest partnership means that IoT services can be developed and rolled out into more businesses via the Onecom and Vodafone expert teams.

Aaron Brown, Chief Operating Officer at Onecom, said: “We are committed to maintaining Onecom’s position at the leading edge of business communications, and see IoT services as a major focus of growth over the next five years and beyond.

“This new partnership complements our strong relationship with Vodafone and enables us to realise our vision of making it simple for our business customers to deploy IoT technology across their organisations, giving them the edge over their competitors and opening up virtually endless possibilities in a connected world.”

Helen Freestone, Director of Partners and Alliances at Vodafone UK, said: “We are delighted to announce the expansion of the partnership between Vodafone and Onecom to now include our world leading IoT services.”

“Successful implementation of IoT services requires specialist knowledge and expertise to ensure that the people, places and processes connected to IoT technology maximise the benefits that adoption of this new technology can bring.  Onecom and Vodafone have a proven track record of working together to achieve this for our customers, building on the success of our Unified Communications partnership.”
