It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for… we’ve made it to Investors In People Gold!

Following our recent assessment by Investors In People, we’re very proud to announce that we have breezed through the assessment and hit Gold Standard! This new accreditation in people management places Onecom within the top 25 employers of this internationally recognised scheme for the very first time.

Since our last assessment in 2016 (for which we achieved Silver accreditation) we have continued to invest in our people, processes and systems to support strong headline growth as well as our company strategy based on the four key pillars – Independent, Customer, Partnership and People.

Our people are fundamental to our success, and our ‘People Plan’ which we refreshed in 2019 aligns to this perfectly. We have worked hard to ensure that Onecom has consistently been a great place to work, which in turn has achieved a greater level of top-quality customer service. It has been our priority to create a fun and inclusive atmosphere, allowing in turn for positive productivity.

Investors In People (IIP) measures 27 levels of criteria across 9 indicators within leadership, employee support and continuous improvement. They thoroughly test the organisations performance with totally anonymous surveying as well as interviews with employees, evaluating strategic plans and performance reviews for personal development. They also consider our employee benefits, people recognition, corporate social responsibility as well as mental and physical wellbeing of our employees.

97% of our people took part in the survey, via anonymous surveys and in-depth interviews. We achieved Gold (and even some Platinum level) scores in different areas of the criteria, achieving an outstanding 790 out of a possible 900, placing us well above the industry average.

Our Chief Exec, Ben Dowd, commented:

“I am delighted we’ve attained this high standard of employee experience at Onecom. It’s an important milestone on our mission to become the best place to work in the sector. We know the work doesn’t stop here and we will continue to focus on how we support our people especially during this period of uncertainty and the changes in life at work that it has driven.”

Onecom’s Head of Human Resources, Parysa Hosseini-Sech is thrilled with the result, especially as the assessment was re-scheduled from March to June due to the Coronavirus pandemic;

“A huge amount of hard graft has gone into continuously developing our processes and people over the last couple of years, so we’re thrilled to have achieved the coveted Gold standard in Investors in People. It hasn’t always been easy, especially as the last stage of the process was undertaken during the pandemic, but I’m particularly proud of my team for having gone the extra mile during challenging times to pull this off. It has really fired us up, and we’re continuing to work in line with our motto of continuous improvement to see if we can’t beat our score in the years to come!”

The evidence is clear, and we must be doing something right for 93% of our employees to agree that Onecom is a great place to work in the IIP survey!
