Onecom has confirmed Wave as its primary cloud telephony platform following a comprehensive review of its hosted voice strategy. This decision follows the acquisition of Gradwell Communications in July and reflects Onecom’s focus on building long-term, owned technology that supports customers and partners.
The review covered a user base of almost 100,000 customers and a channel community of more than 1,000 Partners. As a result, Wave has been positioned as Onecom’s hero solution.
Wave is a well-established cloud phone system that has been operating successfully for many years and is already trusted by thousands of users. While the cloud telephony market is competitive, Wave’s key differentiator is Onecom’s full ownership and operational control of the platform. This enables faster innovation, greater flexibility, and the ability to directly align product development with customer and Partner requirements.
Developed in the UK and built on AWS infrastructure, Wave delivers a comprehensive range of cloud telephony features, including VoIP calling, multi-device access, intuitive call management, voicemail transcription, and a straightforward control panel that allows for rapid configuration. Under Onecom’s ownership, further enhancements are planned across integrations, reporting, and collaboration functionality.
Wave is supported by Onecom’s nationwide engineering footprint and established service capability, providing a level of operational resilience and support that is not always available with third-party platforms. This combination is designed to offer businesses a simpler and more cost-effective alternative, whilst maintaining both reliability and service quality.
The platform has already seen strong early adoption across both direct customers and the channel, with a growing number of Onecom Partners onboarding customers and actively supporting Wave. Onecom has emphasised its commitment to providing Partners with a platform they can rely on, influence, and confidently take to market, supported by a clear roadmap and consistent delivery.
Darren Ridge, Chief Executive Officer at Onecom, said:
“Wave represents a significant milestone for Onecom and demonstrates the strategic value of the Gradwell acquisition. Owning the platform allows us to innovate at pace, focus on the features that matter most to customers and Partners, and build a cloud phone system that is designed for long-term evolution.”
He continues, saying:
“Our priority is to provide a platform that customers and Partners can trust, supported by Onecom’s engineering expertise and service capability. The early response from our Partner community has been very encouraging, and we are looking forward to extending Wave further across our customer base as development continues.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Onecom will continue to invest in Wave, expanding its capabilities to support businesses as they move towards more integrated communication and collaboration environments.
