The Challenge

Dimensions UK faced a multitude of critical challenges. Their mobile device ecosystem was marked by its diversity, comprising of over 3,000 devices from a range of manufacturers. This diversity prevented Dimensions from standardising their internal support and management processes, making it a complex and formidable task. Furthermore, their existing devices were falling short of their longevity expectations, necessitating replacements that drove up operational costs. This was in part due to a previous cost-conscious approach, which emphasised the selection of the most budget-friendly devices available. The desire for more sustainable, reliable devices led to Dimensions UK actively seeking a trusted and proven device manufacturer to address quality and reliability challenges. This was exacerbated further by the presence of varying graphical user interfaces (GUIs) on different devices, device specifications that didn't meet the expected standards relative to their cost, and complexities involved in remote device support and application enrolments.

The Solution

The collaboration between Onecom and Samsung yielded a comprehensive array of solutions that effectively addressed Dimensions UK's challenges. Central to the success of this initiative was the establishment of a robust partnership with independent telecoms provider Onecom. By leveraging Onecom and Samsung’s strategic relationship, Dimensions UK gained access to crucial expertise to guide and support the organisation's transformation. The Dimensions UK team was invited to Samsung’s London Experience Centre, KX, to see the multitude of devices available, including some unreleased devices. With a strategic focus on cost-efficiency, Dimensions UK opted for budget-friendly yet capable Samsung devices that struck a balance between functionality and affordability. This included the user-friendly and robust Galaxy A14 for mobile and the Galaxy Tab A series for tablets.

The partnership with Onecom and Samsung has revolutionised our operations, delivering budget-friendly, reliable solutions that empower our staff and enhance our support services.

Notably, employees at Dimensions UK developed a high level of trust in Samsung devices, fostering enhanced user satisfaction and heightened productivity. The implementation of Samsung Knox Configure provided the organisation with the capability to remotely configure devices and seamlessly deploy crucial business applications, significantly improving their operational efficiency. Moreover, the decision to standardize device usage with Samsung devices streamlined support and device management, resulting in a more efficient and productive system. Complementing these solutions, Onecom's comprehensive managed services for device rollout ensured a seamless transition. The partnership with Samsung via Onecom also granted Dimensions UK direct access to valuable resources, including Samsung roadmaps, technology sessions, and a wide range of additional products and services, further bolstering their capacity for innovation and growth.

The usage of Samsung devices also helped directly assist Dimensions UK’s work supporting people with learning difficulties. Historically, members of the team were going out to the homes of people they support and having no choice but to use paper forms to collect information. Samsung devices have allowed them to record this information electronically, and seamlessly upload it to a centrally managed document management system. Ultimately this saves them time and allowing staff to better support the needs of their beneficiaries. Some of the devices are even kept in care homes and are made available to beneficiaries who may wish to call loved ones and stay connected.

This partnership has set the stage for continuous improvement and innovation in their operations and services.
