What is the Digital Divide?

The gap between people with internet access and people without it is called the digital divide. In short, it refers to unequal access to connectivity, digital skills and technologies in society. For people negatively affected by the digital divide in the UK, it’s difficult to complete everyday tasks, such as accessing online learning or staying in touch with loved ones.

We, alongside Vodafone, believe connectivity is essential, and everyone should have access to the opportunities it provides. The digital divide between those who have access to digital technology, and the 1.7 million households who do not, is at risk of widening further. The network has helped over 2 million people and businesses cross the digital divide via our everyone. connected campaign.

The Great British Tech Appeal

Are you looking to clear out old devices from your office or across your business?

If so, you can donate to the Great British Tech Appeal and give them a new lease of life, doing good for people and the planet.

Vodafone has partnered with Good Things Foundation and Barnardo’s, every reusable device goes to someone in need, along with six months of free data, calls, and texts. Any devices that can’t be reused will be recycled.

By donating your old tech, you’re not only reducing waste and supporting a circular economy – your business will also be helping people in need cross the digital divide. These devices are a vital lifeline, ensuring people can keep in touch with family, friends and support workers, as well as access healthcare and education.
